Chapter Seven

“Morning.”

“Hey.” Em smiled and snuggled farther into Surya’s warmth. He wasn’t quite used to it yet, the closeness, neither of them running away. Surya acting more and more like a boyfriend every single day, even when they’d been pretending to be friends.

And Em was smart enough to know that had all been a joke. Him and Surya? They’d never been friends. Not even from the very first day. The sparks between them when they’d shook hands for the first time in that London conference room nearly set Em’s hand on fire. He’d had to flirt outrageously with Jesse to cover up the fact that his heart had been beating a mile a minute.

Surya kissed him on the back of the neck and tightened his arms. “Mmm, you smell good.”

“I’m still not used to this,” Em said. He twined his fingers through Surya’s and pulled him closer.

“Me neither. And not because you’re a guy,” Surya added quickly. “It’s been a really long time since I’ve woken up with someone I wanted in bed with me again the next night”—he bit Em’s neck—”and the next night”—bite—”and the next night.”

Em nodded. “Me too. Longer than I’d like to admit.” And as much as he wanted Surya? Never.

“So what’s on the agenda for today?” Surya asked, his morning voice still gravelly and sexier than anything Em had ever heard.

“We have that cocktail party tonight, remember? The one at the Crocodile Club?”

Surya groaned. “We were just out last night.”

“That’s what happens when we’re trying to create buzz for a collaboration. We need all your fans and all of Luck’s fans to know about it. You have tomorrow night off, though. Heather and I don’t want to work you too hard.”

“When’s she getting here?”

“Lunch, I think. Jesse is sending a car for her.”

Surya growled. “Do we have anything to do before the party?”

“I have to work.” Em laughed. “It’s Friday.”

“You can work from home, can’t you?”

“Yes, technically. But only if I actually get work done.”

“You will. I promise.” Surya slithered down, dotting little kisses along Em’s spine. It made him shiver hard.

“Um, damn, that’s not the way for me to get work done, Sur.” Surya nibbled at the skin near his waist. Em couldn’t help his squirm.

“I like when you call me that. And I’ll be good. In a minute.” He flipped Em over as he nibbled his way around to the front.

“Okay,” Em breathed before Surya sucked him down.

* * * *

“I am so unprepared for this,” Em hissed into Surya’s ear as the driver pulled the car door open so they could head into the Crocodile Club.

Surya chuckled and patted his butt familiarly. “Yeah, but think about how relaxed you are.”

Surya was relaxed too, and happy, and kind of hoping the smattering of love bites on his neck didn’t show up that well in flash photography. Because the red carpet outside was full of press ready to take a picture of the newest “bromance.” He wasn’t quite ready for them to see how very much more it was.
